Rome is often mentioned as the “Eternal City” and “Caput Mundi” (Capital of the World), two central concepts of the ancient roman culture.
The old town, protected by the Aurelian walls, contain the biggest historical and architectural heritage of the World. In fact, together with the Holy See and the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, was recognized World Heritage by UNESCO.
Rome, from 1929, is also home to the smallest independent country in the world … the VATICAN STATE .
